Alsace-Loraine for awhile and after a
month there we were sent to the Ar-
gonne Forest. north of Verdun. l was
in Verdune for a night and a day. It
is quite a large city but all shot to
pieces now, and there is hardly a
building left untouched and there are
enough French soliders' graves scat-
tered about to fill both Nor-walk and
South Norwalk put together.
I will be some glad when we get
back again but I know we won't be
home by Christmas or New Years.
You can tell mother to get my room
ready but tell her to take the springs
off the bed as I don’t think I would be
able to sleep as I am so used to sleep—
