ERMANY has shown all who are not. blind, that as long

as the Kaiser is in the saddle there is no safe place of
refuge from ' his wrath and brutality. He means to be the master
of the world, cost what it may, and around the neck of his soldiers

he has hung a token, on which is inscribed “Strike them dead! ” .

The German military code provides its greatest horrors for the non-

combatants and the innocents.

‘Youth, and innocence are no protection, for babies have been

skewered on the bayonets of German soldiers.

Old age will not save you, because men of eighty years have been
led out of their houses and shot down in the streets. _ .

 

Maternity is no protection, for the cries of todding children have
Failed to stay the hands that kill "their mothers. ’

Sacred callings shield no one. for upon clergymen and members of

religious orders the most repulsive of crimes have been committed "

before they were put to death.

LL the crimes that have been perpetrated against the
innocents in Europe will be repeated on a lérger scale
here m America. if the Hun is ever allowed to cross the

ocean; and he will come if he is not defeated there

The Hun hordes will come it they can. because world

mastery cannot be attained while America lives and ts tree; be'

cause Amenca is the richest nation in the world. and the plunder
is worth while; because they need to make America pay the
v =' of the war.

This war is therefore every man's war. every woman's
war. every child's war. for if the Hun ever plants foot on Amer-
ican soil he will still wear his "strike-them-dead" tag. and the
wholesale butcheries which he has committed in Europe. the
endless massacres which the Turks have committed under Ger-
man officers. may be only prelude: to what shall be ordered in
America-in your city. in your neighborhood. in your home.

BETWEEN that merciless army and your family
there are three thing3~the Allied armies the Allied navree.
and your work Without your work. and the work of

men like yourself. army and navy would soon be but palsied
arms that could give your home no protection. It s the work-
ers ol America who must supply the strength for those two arms.

, Up and down this land travel aflable. shrewd men who
are seeking to stir up labor trouble on one pretext or another. to

the end that work which the Allied armies need may be stopped
--stoppecl tn the interests ol their master. the Kaiser.

Men of America. be of clear vision! These troubley

makers. no matter their names. their birthplaces. whence they
come or whither they go. are—consciously or unconsciously—the
advance agents of the barbarians to whom plunder. murder.
rape. the shooting down of masses ol nonccombatant men and

‘ women is “ great sport."

Promptly deliver up these advance agents to public ‘ scorn and to the law,

so that when you go to your home at night you can look into the innocent Y7
eyes.of your children and be unafraid. ‘
