ings where explosions occurred all
night long at the. great shell-loading
plant of T. A. Gillespie & Company. at
Morgan. N. 1,, indications Wt‘l‘ul 10
a. in. today, more than twelve hours
after the first detonation. that perhaps
hundreds of persons had perished.

shook Morgan and surrounding terri-
tory its for as New York city, where
the, shock rocked houses and shatter-
ed windows in the business districts.
Whether the 1,900 unaccounted for
were dead or merely had tied, it was
impossible to determine. Firemen
were fighting the flames, and scatter-
ed shells were exploding, and all ener-
gies were devoted to averting a worse
disaster. Thousands of people had
hurried away from Morgan and sur-

German prisoners that are being cap-
tured by Americans, in addition to

An arrangement for their utilization
as farm laborers, formulated by North-
western members oi Congress, has
been submitted to Herbert Hoover,
Food Administrator. These represen-
tatives claim the crops of their sec
tion, which furnishes the bulk of the
food products, are in great danger as
a result of the labor shortage.
