Indigestion and ’ colds are the

Scarf; Are Fashionable.

The summer wrap for traveling or
motoring be it cape, sweater or coat.
is not complete unless it‘has with it a
scarf of some sort to wind around the
throat and fling over the shoulders.
First in favor, of course, are the fur
pieces. These are straight ani no long
and as wide as fancy dictates and
purse allows.

They are worn in every imaginable
way—tied around the waist after being
wound around the throat, or base] our
plice fashion high up under the arms.
or merely hung about the shoulders.
This last way of wearing the . scar!
makes one look middlesge, as it sug-
gests the manner in which elderly
women wear little shoulder shawls.

Some of the long fur capes are an-

:ished with a belt of fur 0r leather. and

there are deep fur pockets in each and
of the scarf.

The angors scarf is a delight and a
comfort. A heavy gray wool svealel
equipped with a scarf of this sort is
very smart indeed.

Ola can buy scarfs and sashes to
match. For instance. a grass green
scarf of silk tricolette with long ends
has a sash exactly like it, only slightly
narrower.

The gay Roman stripes are being
much used and add color and bright-
nes to the preferred summer white.
The brighter colors naturally are re-
served for country wen.

Caps Matarlala.
The preferred materials are tricol-
ette. silk. Jersey and soft and lustrous
silk poplin. The- newest colors are

brown. A fawn colored tricolotts. very
long and smart looking, has a high and
rolling collar of brown squirrel with
ends crossing from sids‘to side to fas-
ten tinder each ear.

The lines and color of this cost make
it the thing of beauty and comfort ii
is. The lining of rich. heavy satin, is

. (mum in any ppm. where intense head“ the exact shade of the tricolctte. A

string belt of the tricolctle crosses in
two pieces in the front, fastening like
the collar at the side.

1ADVISABLE To CAN
TOMATOES NOWi

)l‘hile no quttations are available on.
{canned tomatoes, indications are that
4119! Will be much higher than last'
year, and will probably cost retailers.
20 to 25 cents a can wholesale. With
the present supply, it is to the ad
vanllsc of every housewife to make
provision for next winter’s needs. Re-
.tuilers are paying 50 to .5 cents a bas-'
kct for fancy stock, and will be glad
to quote special prices on large Quan-
tlites for canning purposes. Many of
the poorly-graded tomatoes could be
bought as low as 30 to 40 cents a has-
ket wholesale.

The wide range in prices quoted on
some products is explained by a corre-
sponding range in the quality and to‘
those products which‘ come from a
great distance. The transportation
companies are nearly submerged with
the heavy movement of freight. and
'added to this is the difficulty in some
sections of securing enough cars to
handle the. ever increasing tonnage.
As a result of those conditions, and
owing to the highly-perishable nature
of these products, a large percentage
often arrives in an overripe condition.
This necessitates quick disposal. re-
aardlesa of what they cost the whole—
saler. These facts should be borne in
mind by the ultimate consumer. Well-
graded fancy goods always command
,top priced but genuine bargains can
pemsecurod by the use of the ripe pro
duct, which are especially desirable for
canning and preserving purposes.
