While packing up household goods pre-
paratory to removal to New York, Mrs
Elbridge O. Barrett was accidentally
shot here yesterday afternoon and is
now in the New Haven hospital where
her recovery is not expected. The in-
jury'wss received when the woman in
handing a pistol to her husband let it
fall and the weapon was discharged. A
bullet entered the left side of her neck
and passed through the right side,
causing almost complete paralysis.
Mrs. Barrett is 45 years old and the
wife of a chauffeur employed by Mrs.
L B. Potter of New Ybrk, who has a
summer home here. The Barrette
were getting ready to return to New
York with Mrs. Potter.

Make Returns on Active
Members
According to recently received gen.
eral orders commanding amour: of
Home Guard organizations are order-
ed to make a certified return of the
name of the active members of their
commands who have perfumed the
militaryk duty required by law, to
the seleclmen of the toyins in which
these members reside. and each mili-
tary commander in required to make
return of the names of his neld‘nnd
staff officer, the foregoing data1 to be
in the hands of the town atheists 0n
the first day oi November.
The orders also require that every
organisation of the Home Guard shall
assemble for drill and instruction,
which last will include indoor target
practice. The commanding officer of
the navalubattaiion. and the com
mending officer oi the machine gun
corps shall order and prescribe such
drills as they may deem necessary.

cation reads: “Discharges are graded
as follows and may be granted for
