all and raise this nation to the high-
est pitch of patriotic duty and enthus-
iusnl, not the more Wearing of patriot-
ic emblems on coat or waist. but to
that pitch which makes the
thrill.
When the nation is thrcatencd and
menaced by a brutal foe it is no timc‘
to dcprcss or discourage; it is no firm-
to divide the house of patriots: it ‘is
not time to promulgate a doctrine that 1
will wcakcn our forces. it is a time
when all true, loyal lovers of their
country should stand together that
good may come and evil be downctl.
it is a timc‘ when righteousness and
humane interest are at stake. it is
the time to strike for lasting peace. It,
is a time for the most intense patrio-

Patriotism means a person's love
and passion for his country. The love‘
