As the ward "deficit" seems to have
unintentionally caused some confu-
sion in the minds of people who may
not have carefully read the article,
it should be explained that it did not
have any bearing whatever upon the
present municipal plant. It ’referred
exclusively to the report of the J. G.
White Engineering Corporation to the
{Electrical Commissioners. which
shows that should the new station be
built under the prevailing high cost
of construction and unfavorable war
time conditions. the plant would sus-
tain a deficit; inasmuch as“ its esti-
mated future operation expenses
would annually exceed its estimated
future earnings by more than $2,000.00

tioned at Norfolk, Va. He was given
a few days furlough and is at pres-
