DANBURY, Nov. 20. —Jumes Mc-
Manon a farmer living at Limo Rock,
his horse and dog, and another man,
whose identity is yet unknown, were
instantly killed in two separate ace-:i
1:46 p. m., for New York City.
The first accident occurred at
Canaan when the express train struck
and instantly killed the unidentlned
man. The train was stopped immed
lately, but the man was found to be
beyond medical aid. The engineer,
l though unnerved by the accident, he
lsumed liis Journey.
Did Not Hear Traln.
As the. train approached the Lane

t Manon, driving in his buggy, i . ed to
hear the warning given by the. engi-
,net-r, and drove upon the crossing.
Befole the train could be brought to
a Flop, it struck the vehicle. killing
driver and bone instantly and de-
molishing the carriage.
Mr. McMahon. according to resi-
dents in Lime Rock who knew him
personally. was somewhat deaf. and
therefore failed to hear the warning
of the train. Although an npproacli‘
ihg train is visible for many feet back
of the road, it is believed that Mr. Mc-
Mahon was deep in thought and failed
to notice the oncoming train.

New Haven Road Askrllelp of Slip-

The State Board of Health at a
meeting in New Haven Saturday pro-
posed to certify the purity of oysters
caught and opened in Connecticut wa-
ters if the oystermen themselves will
agree to the plan.
Briefly, the board of Health would
have general oversight of the oyster
industry and make perica.c inspec-
tion. Based on the result of these,
inspections the board would issue
certificates indicating that the oysters
are lit for human consumption. A
part of the plan is to put ‘such cer-
tificates on each package of oysters
in such a way that opening the pack-
age would destroy the certificate and
prevent its re-use.
