this day the church commemorates,
not only all the known and unknown
departed Martyrs and Coufeaaors, and
the great army of valiant and faithful
souls in every age and clinic, but also
those dear to us by ties of kindred-
and affection, and the Communion of
the Church Triumphant with the
church as yet militant on earth.
All Saints' llay is also called All
iiailows’ Day, which given the reason
for calling the eve. of the feast, liai-
lowe’en. Thin feast is the last of the
church's greater cottlmetnorntion of
her departed worthies. because it
aunts them all up in one. and because
the final triumph of the Saints and the
marriage of the Lamb shall be at tho
end of time.
But since the triumph is not yet
come, and becduse sin and weakness

to observe the day following All
Saints’ Day as All Souls' Day. in com-
