At it meeting of the Rent and Tax-
paycrs' Association of Norotou
Heights, held Thursday night, a move-
ment was launched to oppose the con.
strut-lion of a schoolhouse on the
Smith property. recently acquired by
the town for that purpose, ill order to
erect a schoolhouse in the llelgbu
section. At the town meeting on
October 9, when the purchase of the
site was ordered. the School Board
having previously obtained an optioti
of the. property, there was a small
amount or opposition. some of the
people of that section maintaining that
the site was a ilvvamp. and that it
would be an expensive matter to
render it fit for school purposes. not
Robert P. Shelton. the building con~
tractor. and Everett 0‘. Tyler. both
residents of the Heights, maintained
that the low places could be filled at
Imall coat. At last night‘s meeting.
both these. men still maintainer! that
the site could be rendered suitable. al-
though Mr. Shelton said that the rear
of the proposed school building would
be 18 to 30 foot above ground, null
that the cost of filling in would be
