Smallback, aged 18, was killed. and
Emory Kiiiiier, aged 30, was seriously?
injured when an automobile in which
they were riding skidded on South
Main street about 11 o‘clock last night
and struck ll tree in front of T. A. and
ii. Hall. Stiialllitick was taken to the.
hospital and died a few minutes after
reaching there. His skull was fractur-
ed and his neck badly cut. Kilmer suf-
fered a severe contusion on the side.
of his head and was picked up uncon-
scious, lie was attended by Dr. W. C.
Kennedy and later sent to the hospital.

racing a Ford car, both coming tip
Main street at a high rate of speed.
The Kilmer car skidded ii loniz dis-
tance. Others say that the two cars
were going in opposite directions,
and that the Kilmer car skidded iii

The identity of the. driver of the
Ford car is not known. The Kilnier
car was bent around the tree like
a horseshoe. Neither of the men
were thrown out. Smallback was
pinned in the machine and Kilmei-
