the hospital directors meeting and‘
noted that a committee was appointed
to consider a new site and procure.
planaior a new building. Some time!
ago a number of gentlemen represent~
ing themselves as a committee from
the hospital, came over to the Third
District and looked over two dilmnt
pieces of property for a new hapltal
site. One piece of property looked at.
was a very desirable tract of land (or
any purpoae, but the owners shoute-
Iy refused to soil it tor hospital pur-
poses. They declared that it would
damage the rest of'tbelr adloinlng pro
perty and be a detriment to the in
mediate locality. i believe they were
right. The other piece of property
looked at. had considerable low land
and the railroad was in the rear, but.
the people owning property adjoining,
this piece. and the surrounding neigh-
bors. at once arranged to protest ag—
ainst the building of a hospltol in their
neighborhood. they did not want it
and were ready to take steps to pro-2
vent any such project. The present ‘
site or the hospital is certainly most,
beautiful. god elevation. central and.
accessible trom every direction. Therei
is sufficient space west of the present.
building (or a buiiding of ample sizal
for 'all practical purposes of an em-i
ergency hospital. The hospital has‘
been established at its present loca-
tion tor years. The adjoining property
owners and neighbors are iriendlyl
toward the institution. it is acceptable‘
to them in every way. Why agoniso
further over the site question. espec-
ially so, when there are no funds to
buy a site with and the hospital run-
ning into debt every month ? The pro
pie are satisfied with the present lo—
cation and pronounced their approval
oi it by contributing money two years
ago for a new building to be erected
on the present site.
