failure. Mr. Johnston, although ailing
for some time. was not thought to be
in a serious condition, and his sudden
death comes as a great shock and sur-
prise to his many friends in this city.
For a number of years Mr. Johnston
had conducted a cafe, on Water
street. First district. The deceased
was fifty years of age. and is surviv-
