Mrs. Charles Lockwood of Maple
street, who has been afflicted for some
time with blood poison, is now much

Mrs. Francis Howard of the Boston
Post road at Noroton. has gone to,

There is a bill before the South
Carolina senate (it has passed the
assembly) to put all those who break
the prohibition law, which went into.
efiect in that state on Jan. 1, in the
chain gang; no fines will be accepted.
if the state of Connecticut would pass
such a low relative to the automobile,
speeders, the Boston Post road which
swarms with these dangerous, crasy
drivers would soon be clear of them

Samuel Gartrell died at. his home

The new directory of The Southern
New England Telephone Company was
distributed in Darlen and Norman
\i’ednesday and Thursday, but it does
not take en‘ect until Jan. 23, and it is
a sort of a Christmas present, as you,
are not supposed to open it until Sat-
dld peep into it. before the appointed
day and hour. 0n looking over the
Darien Exchange it seems to have
lost about twenty subscribers since
the previous directory was issued on
Oct. 17, 1915. In this issue therewas
something like 342 odd subscribers
and in this new ‘book there seems to
be in the neighborth of 322 (more
or less). On first thought it looked
as if Darien's suburb. Stamford, had
“gobbled up" these missing subscrib~
era, but that exchange do“ not seem
(at a glance‘snd not counting it fer
comparison) to have grown in the
right direction either, since last 0c-
tober. There appears at the foot of
the last page In the Barton Exchange
a "warning” from the company relat
