to reduce the carbon. A little alco-
hol injected through the compression
cups at the end of a day’s run is also
good if done while motor is hot. Upon-
cntering the cylinders It will vaporize
and help loosen the carbon from the
‘walls. Upon starting the motor in
the morning this loosened carbon will
be blown out through the exhaust.

needs cleaning. esiyecialy it ‘33 motor
has been overvlulbricated or running
on a rich leIlll‘e. Usually it is not
necessary to clean muffler after it
been used only 11,000 miles. A clog-
ged muffler caliscse bar. ilpressurc and
prevents proper operation of motor.

might be a gas knock, :but with no

of crude oil. Benlinc is the Iirst _
vapor rising from crude oil when lieut-
ed and when tested roads about so

degrees Battine and 76 degrees Fah-
renheit. As benzine is more volatile
having greater explosive power. In

average automobile engine is not do-
sigiied for such use.
HELPFUL HINTS.
‘During the winter months tires
need careful attention. Aside from
under lnflations small cuts in the tires
are very injurious. Moisture and grit
grit in these cuts will loosen the fab-
ric and cause rapid depreciation and
eventually a lilowotit. All small cuts;
should receive prompt attention antil
treatment. By doing this the life of
the tire can be prolonged fully 30 per}
cent.
