The Mystic Order of Veiled Prop-
hets (the Grotto) was organized in
1889, as a social side line. by a lodge
in the State of New York. Its popu-
larity proved so great that it has
steadily increased. and of late has
been growing by leaps and bounds.
There are now 30,000 members In 65
lrottoes throughout the country.
The object of the Grotto in to
spread goodtellmvship and sociability
among Blue Lodge Masons. bringing
the members of all lodges together
on a common plane, and by means of
elaborate ritualistic work and mirth-
provoking cerenionieit. to. draw the
brethren cl0ser together and bind
them by ties of brotherly love and
sympathy.
