cooperation between the chambers of
commerce and city and town officials
for the upbuilding oi the community,
a more careful scrutiny of proposed
legislation and constant study of the
important problems of state finances,
taxation, transportation, sewage policy,
and industrial legislation, with a view
to making helpful suggestions was urg-
ed by F'iank H. Jolinqston, of New Brit
ain, in his annual address as president
of the Connecticut Chamber of Com-
merce at the seventeenth annual con-
vention of that body-here today.
He said in reviewing the year‘s ao-
tivititm that the state body as well as
the local organizations had done val-
uable work in their communities and
in favoring beneficial legislation at
Aliartford, but that greater develop-
ment along thése lines was desirable.

That the. Sunday school of the South
Norwalk Baptist church is growing
steadily is evident from reports sub
mitted last evening at a meeting of
the teachers and officers of the Sun-
day school, who met with Mrs. Robert
.Horner, on Main street, uptown.
A committee was appointed to plan
for the Christmas entertainment. The
atreasurer's report. made last night,
was indeed gratifying It was voted
that the Sunday school officials hold
monthly meetings.
Refreshments were served and a
pleasant social hour enjoyed at the
close of the boldness session
