gear was this model made? (b) What
is the horsepower of the engine? (7)

The rear axle gear ratio is usually
meant by such a term. You can de-
termine the gear ratio of the diii'ereut
gears by counting the teeth of each
and dividing the number of teeth of
the smaller gear into the larger. The
term 4 to 1 gear ratio means that
the crank shaft of the motor com-
pletes four revolutions to one of the
rear wheels. From this you will note
that no gear reduction takes place in
the transmission. but that direct
drive is considered.

I have placed new gaskets in the
valve caps of my motor and no matter
how light the caps are screwed dowu
there seems to be a leak. The threads
on the caps are’ rather course and I
would like to know what to use so that
the leak can be stopped and yet the
caps not burn fast. S. W.
Make a heavy paste from nako
graphite and shellac. Apply this freely
over all the threads and on the shoul~
der of the caps. Use plenty of graph—
te. This compound should prevent
any leaks past the thread and yet
I ishould no tallow the cap to burn fast.

shops where such troubles arise.
