ceedings took an unexpected turn.
The hat company had iri"'bffect repudz.
isted notes to the value of $133,000
on the ground that Seymour 8. Green;
secretary-treasurer of the company,
an'd president or the First National
Bank, had alone benefltted by the
money raised on them. The conten-
tion was that Green had used this

means to conduct personal businessl

transactions. Today, during the hear-
ing the attorneys ottlfe hat compaiy
admitted the liability of the hat conr
puny for many 0! the notes'as it was
shown that these were deposited to
the credit of the hat company. _

Among notes which the company at
first repudiated which it is under-
stood are now admitted as liabilities
are those of $5.000 held by the Dan-
bury National Bank, of $3.000 held by
the City National Bank. Danbury, $5.-
000 held by the. People's Trust Com-
pany of New Haven, $15,000 held by
