now replacing the horse in the rural
service. OniJuiy 1 the pioneer auto de-
livery started on two routes radiating
from Quarryvilie, Pa. Other motor
routes have been planned, to begin
next month. The postmaster general
has already signed orders for more
than 100 machines, to cover 3.000
miles of post routes.
The service wiilvbe extended just as
fast as the department's resources and
the condition of the highWAys permits.
Of these two considerations. the lat-
ter, is the more important. it is or
comparatively simple matter for the
government to replace the present box-
like rural carriage wagons with auto-
