Probably the most important of these victories was on
the D‘neister not far from Stry. Several villages also have
been captured by the Russians on the left bank of the
Dniester in the same region. In this fighting a section
of the Prussian Guard is said to have suffered severely.
“The. report states that Stanislau was evacuated vol-
untarily.

“On the night of the tenth and the following day, ill/e
Germans, after a furious bombardment, renewed deter-
mined attacks from the ’west of Shavli,.on the front of
Koujilice, Rakieco and Einoraitz . Several times dur—
ing the night they reached our barbed wire entangle-
ments, but each time were thrown back, leaving piles of
killed and- wounded. l
“In the region south of Shavli an enemy detach—
ment, composed principally of cavalry, advanced slight- -
ly in the directionof Szakinow coming from the west.
“On theleft'bank of the Dlubysa from Shavliany to
Betigola, we assumed the offensive and on the morning

orous night attack over 500 prisoners with guns, mi-
