my cylinders getting hot, caused by
corrision in the water Jackets. I took
the cylinders off and cleaned one with
a solution of sulphuric acid and the;
other with loosening up all the slag
and blowing out with 100 pounds of
air pressure. After assembling the en-
gine the sulphuric acid treated cylind»
er kept very cold, while the other got 3
so hot-it cracked my spark plug, yet?
11 'did not bind the piston. What a;
would like to know is this: Is there’
any Whamtlon or solution other than 1
sulphuric acid which I can put in the
outer jacket to dissolve the corrosion2

ly overhauled it must be assumed‘
that all the bearings are tight. If
the motor has been used considerably
it Is possible that the knock is caused,
by piston slap. The fact that the noise:
is eliminated when the ignition of this
cylinder is rut out would indicate this.
Make sure, ho131e1er, that all the new
ngs are tight. Carelessness in assemb—
ling may be the cause of the trouble
Sometimes, if a connecting rod bear-
ing is net fitted and lined up truo'to
the shaft, there will be enough sldo
motion at the wrist pin end of the con-
necting rod to cause it to work sldo—

When an old motor is overhauled
it is best to rebore the cylinders and
it new pistons, if the bestresultsnro
desired. This adds slightly to the ex-
pense of overhauling. but is well
worth the aditional cost.
