Presented, With Musical Inglis -——-+ The famous trial scene in Shake speare's wonderful j‘Merchant of Ven- ice," last night, was presented in so able and clever a manner by pupils or the Franklin Junior High school that it couldn’t help but thoroughly please the unusually large number of people who crowded the Assembly Hall of the Franklin school building, on Franklin and West streets, this city, tohwitness ' this ever interesting play. . “Pyramus and ’l‘hisbe,” a comic iii- ierlude by William Shakespeare, was every bit as enjoyable as the trial scene. in both playlets the acting was natural and well done. Sixteenth cen- tury costumes worn by the partici-‘ pants added much to the interest at the plays. The pupils were well-train- ed in every detail, and the results were Iveatisfying alike to audience, players and teachers. ‘ Between acts enjoyable mush-ail numbers were rendered. A splendid: violin duet, “Elite," was rendered by the Misses Mabel Miller and Elizabeth' .Wilson. This was a feature worth: while. The Girl’s chorus, consisting oil diteen young ladies of the 9th year; department, made a decided hit. They: rendered “Spring Time" and “The Wind Song" in a splendid fashion that ‘nppealed to all. The young ladies in “this chorus were The Misses Hazel _Bean. Gladys Beach, Kathryn Phillips, ~Elsie Williams, Gertrude Harris, Grate O’Brien, Helen Vosburgh, Olive Hip-l son, Mary McMahon, Mary Hyman, Henrietta Livenstein. Mildred Love- joy, M.
