Welsh had a new honor thrust upon
him Sunday night. The citizens or
)Oceanport. N. J., made the little Welsh-

expressed at the adjourned annual
meeting of the Eastern Baseball As-
sociation here yesterday of keeping
lllt' eight clubs intact for the coming
season. At a previous meeting sen-
timent was in favor of dropping the
Waterbury and New Britain teams.
Since the last meeting, the (‘ievo-=
land team of the American League,
which owns the Waterbury franchise,
has officially notified President
(l‘llourke that it has withdrawn
from the territory; so the team now
becomes the property of the East-
ern Association. Plans are under
way to interest Waterbury business
men to put a team in the. field there.
It is said that negotiations have been
entered into with John Lillcy. a
brother of the late Governor Lilley.
Manager Scitiski. of New Britain.
said he had received encouragement
from Northampton, Mass. to transfer
his team there. Adjournment was
taken for two weeks, when a meet-
ing will be held here, at which time "
it Is expected formal action will be
taken regarding these two teams.
No word was received from the
New England League in regard to
published reports of a contemplated
merger of certain teams of the two
assotiations ,
