Ghouls have operated at Riverside"
cemetery within the past seven days.
The discovery was made this morning
by Anthony Marron, one of the em-
ployee, when he was sent out to inves-
tigate a broken lock on the Weed
vault in response to a telephone mes
sage from Samuel L. Weed. last night,
that yesterday afternoon he found it
had been ripped off and the outside
door was partly open. The investiga-
tion brought to light the fact that the
locks on.the outer and inner doors oi
,the receiving vault had also been
pried apart and entrance gained. The
lock on the 'vault of the late George it.
Cowlos was {ound smashed and marks'
showed that an effort had been made
to pry open the doors of the washout
