is especially satisfactory.
The prisoners on the ships cat from china and live

cept that their belongings are carefully searched and mili—
tary discipline is enforced.
At Queen’s Ferry, in “Miles, an unused iron works has
been taken over for the use of prisoners, and several hun-
dred men are quartered in the building. The establishment
overlooks the sea and is surrounded by several acres of
land enclosed in a high board fence on three sides. The
prisoners have a large ground for football, baseball and
other sports.
Lawk of employment is the great problem in all the
'prison camps. Bad weather makes sports impossible and
the men are unable to amuse themselves satifactorily in
their cramped quarters. In many of the camps they have
learned to knit and busy themselx cs making socks and neck
scarfs.

LONDON, Dec. 21.——-Field Marshal Von iiindenburg's
army, which is advancing on Warsaw over a with: front
between the Vistula and the Pilica rivers and which on
Friday occupied Lowicz, reached on Saturday the new
Russian position along the Bzura river and southward to
Rawa with the result that another battle is in progress.
The Russians retired across the Bzura river, destroying
the bridges behind them and two German detachments“
which followed over a partly burned bridges were attacked
and said to have been annihilated, fifty survivors being
taken prisoners.
This is only the beginning of the battle for Warsaw,
from which the crmans are now only thirty miles or less
from which the Germans are rg, however, expects stern
resistance which the strongly reinforced Russian army is
certain to offer to his further advance. protected by the
