STRATFORD, August i.—The case
of Deputy Sheriff Daniel J. Russell, of
this town, who was arrested on
charges of extortion in connection
with an automobile rear light case and
the destruction of a bill board, was
continued yesterday until today, when
brought up in the town court. The
continuance was to give Russell op-
portunity to secure counsel. The dep-
uty sheriff is at liberty under bonds.
The warrant in the automobile light
case was issued at the institution of
George F. Dumraese, of Milford, who
alleges that Russell arrested him on
June 30 on a charge of violation of
