BRIDGEPORT, l7.—Because
he took' female lobsters with spawn
attached from Long Island Sound con-
trary to the statute, Edward Bur-
roughs, of 225‘ Ellsworth street, lilacs
Roch district. was fined $33 and costs
in the City Court yesterday morning.
This was after a hearing in which
the testimony of Game Warden Wilbur
F. Smith and Burroughs was taken.
Smith claimed that llurroughsmanag-
ed to throw the lobsters overboard af-
ter a light and Burroughs denied that
he threw any lobsters away.
Game Warden’n Story.
The offense was committed on July
8 and Smith found the lobsters in the
possession of the accused near
llrandegee's dock in Black Rock, just
after Burroughs had returned from a
fishing trip. Smith told his story in
a very dramatic manner. He said he
found Burroughs at the dock after his
return from fishing and in examining
some gf'tlie lobsters taken_ found that
one. was covered with spawn. A tight

ster was thrown into the harbor.
