D. Jones, the Chicago banker, nomin-
ated by President Wilson for the
Federal Reserve Board, appeared be
fore the Senate bank and currency
committee today to explain his views
in regard..to finance and his Connec-,
tion with the harvester trust. All the
appointees to the reserve board with
the exception of Jones and Paul M.
Warburg, of New York, have been ap-
proved. by the committee. ‘It is expec-
ted that Warburg will he called to
Washington before the end of the
week.
Opposition to the confirmation of
Jones hinges chiefly on the fact that
he is a stockholder in tho Harvester
trust. The Republican members of
the commission also have objected to
