New Haven road and representatives
of the Order of Railway Conductors
and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen
at New liaverr has just been sudcess-
fully concluded, the question of ad-

which went into effect last October be- I

ister. 'l he award was the result oi an
arbitration between tort) two eastern
roads and their employees in reference
to wages, hours and mileage of roads
with eight and twelve hour days. This.
minimum wage scale of the federal
award to the ten hour day iIr vogue in
New Haven.
The agreement as adopted gives the
employees an increase in wages which
dats from last October, meaning that
hack pay will be given the employees.
Tire increase averages about 4.2 per
cent. for all employees. Beginning with
Sunday, when the change in time went
into effect, the men will be paid for
the actual time employed, where be-
fore a man could work thirty-five min»
utes overtime and get paid for an hour,
The provisions as accepted provide for
the following schedule:
Passenger service: Conductors, $4.30
per day for not less than 1.3.3 miles:
tl‘t‘hct collector, $3.57 not less titan 1.3.3
miles: lmggaeman, $2 7.3_ not less than
167 miles: flagmen or rear brakemen,
$2.60, not less than 1.39 miles: brake-
men, 32.55, not less than 1.39 miles.
The men also have the privilege of
being paid by the hour or mile for ov-
