Next Saturday is to be sulrage day
in New Haven, and before the day is
over it will be dilcalt to and a man,
woman or child who has not become
aware that day, it never hetero. that
there is a great movement on loot to
Sain votes ior women. There will be
decorated automobiles galore going
about the city, carrying parties or
women to make suffrage speeches at
convenient points. The ilrst set at
outdoor meetings will be silicon. when
it is planned to hold a meeting at
some convenient point in every one
of the fifteen wards. At each meeting
there will be two or three different
speakers, so that altogether-some any
women will harangue the crowds at
these preliminary meetings.
The great time however will be in
the later part of the afternoon when
the meetings will take place on the
green. Ten stands are to be erected
and there will be room ior large and-
iences around each of the stands.
Every suiirsuat in the city will dec-
crate her house with auiirage colors
and banners, and there will be hurt-
dreds of women in the streets selling
suffrage papers and souvenirs and
giving away lliers and leaflets. Prob
ably the’ streets will be enlivened by
the red roses oi the Socialists and the
roses of a slightly less decided shade
oi the Anti-Sultanate.
Open air meetings are becoming the
rule all over the state with suits-a-
gists. They “can this spring with
