naming of a permanent receiver, .it
was stated during the arguments that
the debts of the two concerns totalled
over $250, 000 and there was no way
of meeting the debt
Mr Cuff's bond for the Hawes, Von
Gal company was fixed at $25 000, and
for the E. J. Von Gai- company
360,000.
C. D. Lockwood, of Stamford. rcp~
resenting Mr. Cuff, the temporary
receiver. made a repbrt of conditions,‘
including a sketch of a trip made to
Toronto last week to look into the
affairs of the Canadian Company. He
summed up the statement by saying
that Mr. Cuff could see no way by
which the company could continue to,
do business. He had filed the largest
orders and had closed the factory for
inventory. The salesmen

New York office closed.
An offer had been made for the
Canadian business which seemed ,to
be a fair, one, and Mr. Cuff recom-
mended that .it be accepted. Mr.
Lockwood said that the debts of the
