governing engineers upon the system,
the committee has submitted a reply.
in writing. Chairman F. S. Evans, of
the engineers’ committee, in his reply
to Mr. Bardo's proposal to abolish the
seniority rule oi? advancement, says:
“Why does not the New Haven go
back to the conditions prior to the
fall of 1911 without attempting such
radical changes in relation to its on-
gineers. Under the some rules of op-
eration, the New Haven from 1901 to
.1911, was as safe as any in the counI
try. The present seniority rule was
made in 1901. The personnel of the
engineers is virtually the some today
as immediately prior to 1911. OFi'

loved was sought diligently by detec-
tives today to tell what he might know
of Miss Day' 11 last hours. Her brother.

her, the brother became alarmed and
began to look for her.
The police were not notified. be-
cause the. brother felt that the girl
might still be alive, and he did not.

While seeking his sister he recalled
that she had become infatuated with

surgeon had left the city for the West,

York, was removed this morning from
the Liverpool Town Hall, where it had
been accorded unprecedented honors
by Great Britain. and taken to the
Cunard Line steamship Lusitania,
where it was placed in the special
mortuary chapel on the forward be-
tween deck for the homeward jour-
ney. The Lusitania is due to arrive
in New York on Friday, September 19.
