Telephone men in the local
change are beginning to wonder if
some sort of a Jinx has settled in this
vicinity and directed Its attention ex
clustvely to the telephone business
Within the past eight days, as a re,
suit or tour severe electrical and
wind storms, one of which was the
worst experienced in this vicinity in
years, and one :bad fire, between nine
hundred and one'ihousa'nd telephone
subscribers' telephones have been put
out of commission. a, record never
before known in the history of the,
South Norwnlk Exchange.
To cope with this abnormal amount
of trouble. all of the local telephone
plant mun werb iorcod to work ai-
moat steadily overtime, beginning on
early as four and live o'clock In the
morning and continuing at their work
until darkness made it Impossible for
them to proceed any further.
