At the special meeting of the Town
School Committee, last evening, the
report of the Fire Escapes Committee,
was read and the bid for the iron work
was awarded to the Hartford Iron!
Works, of Hartford. and the carpentryI
lwork was awarded to 'S. B. Wilson, of
Norwalk. The meeting was ill some
respects a bitter one, not as a whole,
but as differeny members of the board
argued on the bidding for coal and the
hiring of Louis Pratt, at a salary which
at that time was undecided.

Yesterday Miss Marie lFlee. of New
York, boarding at Mrs. *Harris', in
Highland avenue, was swimming at
Hickory Bluif. During the afternoon

Miss Flee came up she had fainted

No one seemed to realize tllat her
plight was serious, but Tracey B. Am-

young woman. He lauded her upon
the float, and with the aid of a bottle
of brandy, brought from shore. Miss
di‘iee was revived after about ten min-
utes‘ of hard work on the part of the
bothers. 'She is feeling fairly well to-
