partment. and in a few minutes the

was soon seen that chemicals were or
no avail, so the water-pumping mm
chine was sent for, and soon arrived.
Water was then pumped from a lake,
through two lines of hose, into tbs
burning building. rl‘lle flames had
gained great headway, however, and
soon the barn was a mass of ruins.
The barn was built of stone toothe
first story. and the other story and a
less than two years also. when all or
the outbuildings on the piece wore de-
strayed by fire.
In the near vicinity oi the barn are
a garage and a pumping station.
These were saved through the good
work of the firemen. The house now
in course of construction is a consider~
able distance from the burned barn.
The firemen continued throwing water
into the smouldering ruins until little
tire was left. '
This place was formerly the Hall es»
tale. It was purchased by Mr. L92»
