with a good chance of going over that
if his condition gives a fair oppor-
tunity. He has had physical disabili-
ties this year whichhave handicaped
him, but were be lit and In the game
right along he probably would finish
.400 or better. Ross Barnes batted
over .400 for three different years, but
only two of them were consecutive,
and in these days the rules of scoring
were different. Jesse Burkett batted
over.+001n1895, 1896 and 1899. Cobb.
Barnes and Burkett are the only ones
to but over .400 two years hand run-
ning, though Joe Jackson promises to
