In a series of decisions on Aarious
cases of the Supreme court the appeal
of the Town of Norwalk by its Bridge
Construction Committee from the de-
cision in the case against Kate ll. Pod-
more and others has been answered
by the court which claims no error in
the judgment of the lower court,
which was favorable to the Podmoxe
side of the argument.
» Attomey Leo Davis represented the
Podmores and AttorneAA John J. Walsh
took the appeal from the SAApeAior
court for the town. The lower conit
decided that the property of the dc
fondant was worth $4, 300 despite~the
fact that the town wanted to pay'
less than half or this amount.
This decision means that the town
will be obliged to pay the Aaiue as es-
timated by the Superior court or else
take a further appeal, and may be
the means of delaying the building or'
the brides. as this was a test caseload
‘ mire all; other property owners who
will likely take the same course.

The afternoon session or the dis-
trict stewards’ meeting and annual
convention of ministers and laymen of
the New York District, New York
East Conference. was more largely at-
tended than in the morning, yester-
day, at the South Nor-walk Methodist
Church The afternoon convention
was public and the seventy or the
morning meeting was augmented by
the arrival of over thirty more. This
attendance is unusually large.
Elliot W. Peck of Stratlord, presid-
ed and the convention opened with do
voilous in charge of Rev. George Whit-
field ASimonsoa, of Bridgeport, follow-
ed by greetings from Rev. AH. Wake-
hum. pastor of the local church.
The reports of various committees
followed, that of the committee on
apportionment being first received.
This is the committee that apportions
the amount for each church to pay for
the district suport during the year,
and this last report was received by
