Norwaiif‘Board of Trade Carnival Com.
mlttee, last evening, in the carnival
vaudeville entertainment, held in Look-
wood's diali. Despite the unfavorable
weather conditions the hall was filled
and extra seats were addeddo accom-
modate the large number who arrived
late.
One of the features of the program
was that portion in which the Ford
Sisters appeared. Clog dancing was
'their specialty and though the music
stopped their nimble pedal exeremitles
tlee kept the tune going and the au-
dience laughing with appreciation.
Mrs. Helena Hill Wood. of Norwalk,
appeared in a monologue, entitled, “An-
tizSuffraze?" and was generously re
ceived by the audience. A handsome
bouquet 'was presented to her by
friends in acknowledgment of her suc-
case.

at $400. was burned to death, but. two
large trunks containing jewels es-
caped serious harm. A considerable
sum of money was aboard, but as it
was in a sane, it escaped the flames.

of shirts and waists. They will employ
between twenty-live and thirty men
and women.

which is a growing one, started this
morning to clean up the plant and
make it ready for the machinists who

pected that work: will be commenced
on Monday.
There are several other concerns in-
terested in the city who are expected
