Was Prominent Business Man In Port
Chester for Years. -
'Samuel S. Durand, one of the best
known and at one time one of the
most prominent business men of Port
Chester, died suddenly of heart fail-
ure at his home. 32 Midland avenue,
Port Chester, at 10:30 Tuesday eve-
ning. Mr. Durand reached home
about 10 o’clock, apparently in the
best of health. and was talking and
joking with his daughter. A half
hour later he was found dead in his
chair.
‘Mr. Durand was born in South Nor-
walk. Conn, in 1850, the' son of

He is survived by his wife, two sis-
ters, an a large family. The sisters
are Mrs. George W. Ford. of New
York, and Mrs. Harmon Snyder, of

ship Mauretsnia to testify at the trial

England, and induced Coupe to re-
