An enthusiastic rally of the Progres<
BN9 colored voters was held at the As-
sembly Hall last night, the speakers
being the Rev. W. H. Mixon, of Saints,
Mn, and George F. Pentecost, D. 1).,
of Tokeneko, the latter being the Pro-
gressive candidate for state senator
from this district.
The attendance was not confined to
the colored voters. there being fully
as many white enthusiasts in the hall
as the former and they were all well
repaid for their attendance, because
Dr. Mlxon kept his audience alternat-
-ltotweeu laughter and serious thought
for fully three-quaretrs of an hour. One
incident of his trip here seemed to
give him great satisfaction and keen
enjoyment which was that on the car
there was only one seat vacant which
murder.
Becker himself had expressed a de
sire to testify in his own behalf, but
his lawyers are undecided on the
question and a decision will rest
largely with the trend of the testi-
mony in his favor.
The fact that Mrs. “Lefty Louie"
Rosenberg, wife of one the four gun»
men charged with the actual murder
testified yesterday as a state's wit
ness, gave rise to renewd rumors
that “Lefty Louie" had a confession
to make and would likewise go over
