to the taxation of bonds issued by bus-
iness corppratlons in the state. The
opinion is as follows»—
"lln your favor requesting my spins
ion you say: “There seems to be an
idea in some parts of the state that
bonds issued by. business corporations
organized under general or special law
are exempt from taxation in this state.
Will you kindly at your earliest con-

to the taxability of bonds issued by
'mercantile and manufacturing corpor-
ations in this state,
“In this state unlike many of the
states, we have no constitutional pro-
vision limiting and defining the power
of taxation. Hence, an answer to your
question must be found in out statutes.
Mercantile and manufacturing corpor-
ations are taxed under Sections 2,328
and 2,329 of the General Statutes-on
all of their property in this state and
the stockholders are expressly exempt
from assesmcnt of taxation for their
state's evideub‘e.
