the Canadian reciprocity bill passed
by the extra session last summer. On
this question the house Republicans
voted almost solid to concur in the
senate amendment, only about six
Republicans voting with the Demo
crate. Representative Hill was one
of those voting with .the Demo-‘
ctats. All the senate amendments to
the bill. except the reciprocity clause.
were concurred in. This action sends
the bill back to conference. No doubt
is expressed by any member but that
the president -will veto the bill,
whether it contains the reciprocity
clause or not.
The Cuban situation has hitched
the senate. The Bacon resolution to
investigate the authority under which
n‘arines were landed in Cuba and the
Nelson resolution to find out whether
the insurrection was being propagat-
‘ed upon American soil. both pending
before the senate committee on for-
eign affairs, will be taken up in that
committee Wednesday. The commit-
tee on Cuban relations are looking
