chise League entertained the League
from Westpont. and other representa-
tive. at the Hotel Ciliord on Tuesday
afternoon. The ladies were address-
ed by Mrs, Annie (1. Porrl'tt. oi Hart
ford, on the Pure Food Law. The
audience was most attentive, and glad
to be thus informed. They will do
all they can to forward interest in the
movement in this state.
Mrs. Porrlt spoke with great earn-
estness. and with the conviction bi
knowledge of her subject. She said
in part.’ ‘
Napoleon. as you probably know
was a great opponent of all causes
which brought women into politics.
He once asked Madam . a fit-
moua lady of strong political convic-
tions. how long she had been thus
roused on the subject of politics.
“Ever since you began to crop off
beads." was her reply. Mon here In
America have not exactly been crop

seen to it that our food was promoted.
