ald, denounced in plain terms the evil
or race suicide, which he said has
grown most alarmingly in the land,
and also dealt with the problem of
why there are such a great,proportlon
of unmatried men and maids in our
midst, Father FltzGcI'ald said he has
long wished to speak on the first-num-
ed theme, but owing to the large num-
ber 01' children in church‘on Sunday
he was obliged to wait for the even-
ing Lenten services.
Father Fitztierald began by saying
that when he was a 1on

father, mother and about six chil-
tircd. A careful analysis of the cen-
sus of St. Itase's parish shows that
there is not an average of two chil-
drdd to each family. He said that at
present the conditions are appalling.

FIRE IN FAIRFIELD AVENUE.
