GENERAL ANDRADE ASSASSINAT-
ED.
GUAYAQUIL, Ecuador, March 6.—~
ten. Julio Andrade, the military com-
mander at Guayaquil, was assassinated
at Quito last night. by some of his
soldiers.
General Julio Andrade was the chief
figure In the suppression of the recent
revolution in Euador after the death
of President Estrada. He took com-
nnand of the army supporting the
Quito government, which favored (len-
erai Leonidas (Plaza, who took over
the. reigns of government on President
lEstrada‘s death. On several occasions
lite met and defeated the insurgent
army under the.command of Gen. Fla
vio Alfaro, which supported the claims
of Gen. Montero and finally suppressed
the revolution by capturing Guayaquil.
Gen. Montero was tried by court-mar-
tial at Guayaquil and then dragged
into the strets. beheaded and burned
by the angry poulace. Other revolu
tioaary Iedders suffered a similar hor-
n-i-hle fate at Quito. The country then
became quiet and arrangements were
being 'made to eledt a president for
the next four years, Gen. Plaza being
nominated ‘by the Liberals.

Difficult Experiences Will Be Related
'to Help One Another Along.
State Tax Commissioner William
H. Corbln', of Hartford, has sent com-
munications to members of the board
of relief and also the board of asses-
sors, calling attention to a meeting
which will be held at the state house
Tuesday forenoon for the purpose of
bringing together assessors and board
of relief members from the different
cities and towns in the state.
It is proposed to .have different tax-
ing officials present to discuss some
of the statutes relative to local taxa-
tion and of methods employed.
The meeting was suggested by dif-
forent taxing officials in the state
who thought such a gathering would
be beneficial. '
Different. experiences gained in ad-
ministration of local taxation will .be
related and questions will be asked
and answered by those in attendance.
The meeting will be held in room 61
of the state capitol and will begin at
11:15'0. m.
