Lincoln and Banner Councils Give a
Successful Affair.
The old fashioned dance that was
given last evening at the Mystic Chain
iiall under the auspices of the mem-
bers of Lincoln and BannEr Councils
proved to be a most successful and
happy affair. The dance was well at-
tended and all present reported that
the ladies and gentlemen of the two
councils were excellent hosts.
Merriam's orchestra furnished llili‘
sic throughout the evening and the
dancing was general. Refreshments
were served and it was a late hour
,when the strains of Honie,- Sweet
Home drifted sieepily through the
hall.
SAYS MARRIAGE NOTICE WAS A
JOKE.
Frederick M. Cullen. the popular
young electrician, reported this morn-
ing that the joke was on him. for he
was not married at all, as was re
ported yesterday in these columns.
Mr. Cullen was seen yesterday by El
Sentinel reporter and asked» if the re-
port that he was married was true.
Mr. Cullen scented 10th to answer,
‘although from his cenversation those
about him took it that the report was
true. including the reporter. it de-
veloped this morning that Mr. Cohen
considered the report as a joke and
thought the reporter was joking him
at the time. He enjoyed himself im-
mensely, but this morning he laughing-
iy admitted that the joke was on him.
The young lady who was reported to
have been the bride Is a guest at Mr.
Cullen's home, .

Authorities Act in Regard to Tender
Youths Learning to Fight.
Some of the boxing befits schedul-
ed for this evening in \Vinniipauk have
been called off. on account of the
youthfulness of the participants. Man-
ager Frank Joseph, it is understood,
says the ages of some of the boys, who
are large and strong, Were misrepre-
sented to him. Andrew Augustine,
aged fourteen years, will not appear,
Chief of Police Leatherland having
consulted with Mr. Joseph regarding
him. Albert Kunze. aged fifteen, is
not likely to go before the public. in
fighting togs, but may appear in a
sweater and pantaloons. The boys are
to to paid for taking part in the en-
tertainment. '
it has also come to the ears of the
authorities that a number of boys in
the Springwood section have a habit
of standing on the Monroe street rail-
road bridge, and dropping stones on
the trolley cars as they pass under-
neath. This practice is liable to re-
sult in injury to passengers, as well as
damage to the cars, and steps will
be taken to stop the practice in the
future.
