in the ease of Allison Mach‘arland. on
trial for the murder of his wife by

of guilty of murder in the first de
gree shortly before midnight last
night.

The jury had been out since 10: 311
o'clock in the morning and during the
thirteen and a quarter houra' wait tor
the verdict. MaeFarland had shown
no anxiety as to the outcome. When
the foreman or the jury pronounced
the verdict the accuwd man seemed
stunned for a moment, out he did not
break down.
