An accident. Which might have and-
ed disastrously for the occupants of
the automobile which skidded into a
telegraph pole at. the foot of iuiii nut
yesterday alteration at just 5 o'clock,
tinned out to be one with but little
resulting damage. The automobile
belongs to Franklin Gregory. of West-
port avonue, the well-known carpenter
and was driven by Frank‘ J. Sandor-
spree, of Newton's avenue. Those were
the only occupants of the machine and
luckily escaped without lnlury.
The auto came down Mill Hill at a
moderate rule. of speed. which was a
fortunate circumstance. and in attemp.
ting to turn into Brooks street at the
foot of the hill, the machine skidded
forcibly into a large telegraph pole.
That the man were not thrown out and
that the automobile did not crash in-
to the. old collat‘ just across the aide-
waik from where the machine stopped.
is due to the foot that they were more
tag at a reduced rate of speed. The
men were not tltrown out and the ma-
chine was able to leave shortly after-
wnrd under its own power.
The only damage sustained was the
twisting of the front axle. This was
repaired at a local garage the machine
being a Ford live passenger car. The
slippery pavement due to the rain and
the absence of skid chains is given as
the cause of the accident.

Had it not been for the presence of
mind of General Russell Frost and
his son. Russell Frost. Jr.. yesterday
afternoon. the tenant’s big Chadwick
automobile might have gone up in
smoke. when a sudden blaze gushed
out from the carburetor, threatening

DANBURY, June 23.—~Heiress to an
English estate said to amount to $11,-
000,000 and possessor of the title of
the Right Hon. Lady Bessie Wedding-
ton Hall. of Lianovar Castle, Wales,
Mrs. Charles S. Slgourney, wife of a
workinginan in this city is packing
her humble belongings and with her
husband will depart; for England in
a few days to take possession of her
property. Mr. Slgourney was at one
time a jockey. When his wife re~
cclved news of her fortune he was
driving a city sprinkling cart.
“i don't like to speak of it, the
title sounds so unusual to American
ears and our friends laugh about it,"
said Mrs. Sigonrny as she admitted
the receipt or information from her
lawyer in England that her title to
the estate and title and been acknowl-
edged. The property she said, was
that of her grandmother. Right Hon.
Lady Barbara Hall. of Llanover Cus‘
tie, whose estate is in Tbeteney. Mom.
mouthshire, Wales. There were two
other claimants to the estate, one of
whom died recently and the other has
withdrawn. Mrs. Sigourney said a re
cent. mall brought her a draft from at-
torneys for the estate in England to
defray her expenses in breaking up
her home here and going to England
to take possession of the property.
