trying illness of two years. lie was
stricken down about two years ago
with a slight shock, and after a little
seemed to rally, but only for a short
time. He was a most patient sufferer.
never mourning at his affliction. Mr.
Bouton was a scientific cabinet maker
and upholsterer. having learned the
business in the old time school. at
Ridgefleld. under the tutorshlp of.
“Boss" iPlckett, who had at that time
one or the largest cabinet making es-
tablishments in the state.
Mr. Benton was born 8i years ago in
Wilton. and was a son of William non»
ton and Polly Hoyt Benton. His fath-
er was a descendant of John Bouton, a
French ilugenot. He has resided in
’Norwalk for fiftgnine years. locating
here at the time 0! his marriage, which
took place in Ridgeiield, October 15.
1852.
Their golden wedding was observed
nine years ago at their home by a
family dinner party.
Mr. Benton, being of a retiring and
modest nature never entered public
life in any manner wnstever. his love
of his home and family kept him in
that sacred citadel. file was a man of
